Magnetic Drain Plug
Increase your engine's lifespan with the EP Tuning Magnetic Drain Plug.
We have used the strongest high temperature grade Neodymium magnets in the world in the design of this drain plug.
The Neodymium magnet will pick up any stray ferrous debris from your engine oil and help protect your engine from catastophic failure due to bearing pick up, clogged oil ways or oil pump wear.
Designed to remove ferrous metal shavings from your engine oil to prevent premature damage and increase the life of your engine plus significantly cleaner oil between changes.
A standard grade N neodymium looses magnetism at only 80 Degrees C and can dump all the metallic swarf back into the oil!
Our Neodymium Magnet has at least double the strength of ordinary magnets and the specific type we use has an operating temperature of over 180 degrees Celsius. This is absolutely critical. Ours will lift almost 2kg and keep this strength at high engine oil temperatures. The stronger the magnet, the cleaner the oil.
All magnets lose their magnetism as they get hot. The temperature they do this at varies from one grade to another, but the important thing to note with automotive use is that you use a grade high enough that it doesn’t lose its magnetism in hot oil, which can be up to 140 degrees C.
Its cheap insurance as your oil filter does not catch everything plus the oil pump on most engines is pre filter and even the smallest metallic particles can clog your pump and engine failure can take place in just a few seconds of starvation.
Don't let this grit ruin your expensive engine. Our rare earth super strong Neodymium magnets pull out the bad metal debris and hold onto it. At your next oil change, just clean these particles off with a cloth.
Look out for increasing amounts of particle build-up at each oil change so you can keep an eye on premature wear.
Our EP Tuning Drain plug magnet is secured using the strongest 2 part Epoxy resins available, again this adhesive will take over 200 degrees C so it will not drop out like other cheaper products.
The EP Tuning magnetic drain plug is supplied with a new Dowty washer gasket to stop leaks.
The Magnet and Drain Plug are both Nickel Coated for strength and durability.
We now stock two types, both are a straight swap for original equipment or some aftermarket baffled sumps.
All Toyota ZZR engines use an M12 x 1.25 pitch thread.
K Series engines use an M14 x 1.5 pitch thread.
The Honda K20 engine also uses a M14 x 1.5 pitch drain plug.
