A huge amount of Research and Development has gone into the design and manufacture of this latest offering from Eliseparts / Quantum Racing Shocks.
Eliseparts have been supplying dampers in various forms for almost 20 years.
During this time, we have frequently been asked by our customers for a high quality height adjustable damper for the Elise platform, giving the performance previously only available with adjustable mono-shocks but in a simple fit and forget package without any confusing adjustments.
As usual there was one area in which we were unwilling to compromise, quality. The way we see it, the only way to guarantee that is to keep design and manufacture in house.
All QUANTUM ZERO shocks are manufactured at the Quantum premises in Sussex, with a bare minimum of sundry items bought in from established suppliers in the United Kingdom and Europe.
With our combined experience with Quantum Racing in the joint development of the Quantum Black range we have been supplying over several years to the Lotus community, we have developed The Quantum Zero to fulfil this need.
They can be installed on any Elise, Exige and VX220 in about 1 hour; the ride height can then be easily set and as long as you do not drop the ride height by more than 15mm minimal geometry adjustments will be necessary.
The damper is fully height adjustable and although it’s perfectly OK to use on track it has been designed as a performance road damper that offers much better handling without compromising OE comfort levels too much.
The adjustment tool pictured here is not totally necessary but again we can supply this at a minimal cost if required.
Spring rates are optional, we can offer either 200 / 400lbs or 220 / 550lbs rear progressive springs, front springs range from 275lbs to 400lbs depending on usage and what rear progressive spring is installed.
N.B. We still can offer lower rate rear linear springs for pure road cars which we may opt to install depending on your requirements.

Keep it simple.
ZERO shock bodies are thread cut to allow preload adjustment of the road spring. The female thread form also appears inside the shock bottom. This means the same thread can be used for spring preload adjustment and assembly, reducing tooling costs and time spent on the machine.
The pressure fitting and its o-ring seal are concealed beneath a spherical joint. This allows the fitting to be quickly and easily turned on the lathe and the number of component parts is reduced but it also means the joint can protect the fitting from the elements and ensure the long-term integrity of the seal.
Fixed bleed. Optimum valving. Zero adjustment. Zero fuss.
As there’s no adjuster mechanism to pack with road dirt and grime, that’s one less point of failure to worry about.
Low friction. Consistent performance.
The benefits of fixed bleed aren’t limited to reduced complexity and improved durability. As no adjuster rod passes up the middle of the shaft, the shaft diameter can be reduced to 12mm without compromising integrity. Reducing the shaft diameter reduces friction at the seal pack and the volume of fluid displaced.
Less displaced fluid means less floating piston travel; yet again reducing friction and change in gas pressure throughout the operating stroke.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT QUANTUM THE COMPANY
For almost 25 years Quantum have been very successful in the motorsports arena.
Operating from a factory unit bordering the South Downs National park, Quantum Racing Services are typical of the precision engineering businesses on which the UK motorsport industry’s worldwide reputation is founded.
Quantum was originally formed in 1988 for the specific purpose of supplying a new design of racing damper to Formula One teams.
Today the company is owned and operated by Patrick Murphy, formerly a number one mechanic with the Benetton Formula F1 racing team. Patrick joined Quantum in 1992 and took a controlling interest in the business a year later.
That same year the factory backed Dave Cook Racing team won the BTCC constructors championship for Vauxhall on Quantum Shocks.
Quantum originally introduced a variation of their Formula One shock absorber to Formula 3 in 1991, where it met with almost instant success. Paul Stewart Racing’s David Coulthard scored the company’s first F3 victory in the third round of the series at Donington Park and in doing so began a winning record that continues to this day.
Throughout the early nineties, Quantum Shocks were original equipment on Reynard chassis built to contest the highly competitive Formula 3 and Formula F3000 formulas. In turn, this led to a contract supplying Dallara when their chassis began its monopoly of Formula 3 in 1995.
Jamun have now succeeded six years of consecutive British Formula Ford champions on Quantum shocks.
In 1999 Quantum purchased their first CNC machine and began the process of bringing production in house ensuring total quality control.
All Quantum's shocks are designed at their premises using full 3D solid modelling CAD programmes and the shock components are CNC machined from the highest quality billet materials.
Quantum are incredibly proud of the quality and detail in all aspects of manufacture. There are very few components that they do not manufacture in house.
