My S1 developed an issue with cooling hard under acceleration. The water pump, thermostatic valve and sensors were all changed but the problem remained. Actually the issue was caused by the standard thermostatic valve which is not responsive enough. The standard valve stays closed until hot and then opens and floods the block with cold water. This kit includes a softer spring which allows some coolant to seep into the radiator circuit, keeping the difference between the block and the radiator more controllable. Totally solved the problem, probably saved the head gasket from blowing. She now runs 80'c even when pushing hard.
